UNRESTRICTED Richmond free agent Luke McGuane is set to leave and has spoken of his desire to play for the Brisbane Lions.

AFL.com.au has reported that McGuane is keen to return to his home state with the prospect of playing for former Richmond assistant Justin Leppitsch at the Lions driving his choice of team.

“Brisbane is my first preference due to their interest and also the fact I grew up in Queensland and my family are there,” said McGuane via the AFL website.

“It also helps that I get along with ‘Leppa’ really well on and off the field.

“He’s been great with me the whole time he’s been at Richmond, so when he went up there I saw a lot of positives in exploring a move there.”

McGuane, 26, joined Richmond out of Broadbeach (QLD) as the 36th overall selection of the 2004 National Draft. He has played in 105 games for the club since he made his debut in Round 7 of the 2006 season.
